Design Engineer

PCI is seeking an experienced Design Engineer for its PCI Denver operations based in Denver, CO. This individual will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Attend kick off meeting with design and or operations staff at beginning of project to ensure Level of Development, scope, project details and contract requirements are understood before modeling begins.
  • Create 3D models utilizing Revit.
  • Actively participate in BIM coordination and design meetings.
  • Develop and model scopes as requested, including, but not limited to, Interior and Exterior Walls, including framing, Ceiling and Soffit Framing, Acoustical Ceilings, Specialty Panels, Raised Access Floor, Clean Room Walls, Clean Room Ceilings, Unistrut, No Fly Zones and other specialty scopes to required Level of Development using Revit, and other Revit add-on programs.
  • Coordinate with point cloud files.
  • Ensure models produced are spatially coordinated.
  • Escalate any issues to the BIM Coordinator and Design or Operations Team.
  • Elevate model and document inconsistencies to the attention of the BIM Coordinator and Design/Operations Team to determine what action is to be taken.
  • Ensure all elements of the model are fully coordinated within PCI’s scope.
  • Perform BIM compliance checks of deliverables.
  • QC model against project documents for discrepancies.
  • Utilize Navisworks Manage to run clash detection and identify potential issues.
  • Use Navisworks to resolve PCI clashes.
  • Attend staff training to enhance staff members’ knowledge and expertise of the standardized software used.
  • Create and maintain project-specific content to ensure they are consistently aligned with instructions, guidelines, in-house standards, and the project’s BIM standards.
  • Actively engage with Design and Operations Team to implement best BIM/VDC practices.
  • Coordinate with BIM/VDC service providers and clients.
  • Provide & design support tasks including but not limited to: processing install drawings, incorporating comments, Producing details and layout files.
  • Clean, prepare, and organize CAD/Navisworks files for field use.
  • Special projects as assigned.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline (Construction Management, Construction Science, Architecture, Engineering Fields, etc.) preferred.
  • 2-year technical degree or 2 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • 4+ years of BIM (Revit)/VDC modeling and coordination experience.

Salary range: $83,200-$111,000 annual salary plus non-guaranteed annualized bonus program

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must possess proficiency with software platforms including Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks Manage, and BIM 360 Design/Glue.
  • Must be able to present a portfolio demonstrating work in Revit and Revit Family Editor.
  • Experience with Bluebeam PDF Software.
  • Ability to understand design and document coordination.
  • Innovative and creatively minded individual looking to improve process, procedure, and construction techniques to provide continued improvement and efficiency to role, work scopes, and our customers.
  • Ability to take responsibility for the outcome and results of assigned projects.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Word.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Motivated self-starter with strong work ethic and a willingness to take initiative.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as durations of independent/isolated/unsupervised environments.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to communicate the benefits of BIM/VDC, both for internal and external purposes.
  • Passion about BIM/VDC and how it can be used to improve the productivity of those who work in design and construction.
  • Ability to multitask under pressure and handle last-minute requests.
  • Must be flexible and willing to visit project site and area of importance as required.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with cleanroom, non-structural metal framing, drywall, façade systems, ceiling systems preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Dynamo, Revit API, SketchUp, and iConstruct are a plus.
