Job Description
PCI is seeking an experienced Estimator for its Bay Area Abatement Services based in Benicia, CA. This individual will estimate projects related to asbestos and lead abatement, mold remediation, and shrink wrap construction services. Responsibilities may include:
- Perform quantitative takeoffs on construction projects
- Establish labor productivities for estimates
- Maintain positive relationships with area vendors for competitive material and equipment pricing
- Solicit subcontractor pricing for work done outside of our self-performed scopes
- Understand the market conditions including competitive approach, backlog, level or risk for work and other factors for establishing margin percentages
- Actively participate in the Customer Alignment Plan by creating and maintaining positive customer relations
- Contract administration for secured projects
- Actively participate in executing safety plans and measures of the branch and assigned projects
- Understand and follow all PCI corporate safety programming guidelines and policies
- Coordinate with field supervisors and foremen and effectively communicate issues to negotiate the optimal position for our trade in the work sequence
- Assist in selecting the vendors and coordinate materials and equipment
- Assist in the buyout of subcontractors, issue contracts, and proactively sequence and manage the subcontractors’ work, including billings and change orders
- Assist in other duties as assigned such as change order management or billings depending on the project(s)
This position is safety-sensitive.
Salary range: $90,500 - $121,000 annual salary, plus non-guaranteed annualized bonus program eligibility.
Basic Requirements
- Must have a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience estimating or project-managing abatement scopes on construction projects (commercial work preferred)
- Be able to diagnose and process key information, recognize critical areas on the job that could impact profitability, and then actively navigate the project away from risks and liabilities for a successful outcome
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word is required
- A clear understanding of how to read and understand specifications and drawings is required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required
- Ability to work effectively in team environment is required
- Strong customer service skills are required
- Must be able to multitask, think critically, and resolve issues
- Ability to learn new job skills by engaging in the technical aspects of the job and applying new skills as they are taught is required
Preferred Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science or Construction Management is preferred
- Local to the Bay Area preferred
- Experience with On-Screen Takeoff and/or Quick Bid is a plus
