Contingent Work Assignment

Personal Information

Contingent Workers must complete the personal information documents as well as acknowledge basic policies that must be adhered to while working on any of Performance Contracting worksites.

PCI is seeking an experienced Estimator for its Washington, DC operations based in Ashburn, VA. This individual will be responsible for the following duties:

 

  • Performing quantitative takeoffs on construction projects
  • Establish labor productivities for estimate
  • Maintain positive relationships with area vendors for competitive material and equipment pricing.
  • Solicit subcontractor pricing for work done outside of our self-performing group.
  • Understand the market conditions, including the competitive approach, backlog, level or risk of work, and other factors that affect margin percentages.
  • Be involved in the internal bid reviews with supervisors and project team.
  • Participate in the customer alignment objectives of the branch by creating and maintaining positive customer relations.
  • Contract administration for secured projects.
  • Prepare wage and benefit schedules.
  • Assist in the hand-off of secured projects to the Operations Team.
  • Assist in other duties such as change order management or billings depending on the project(s).

Basic Requirements

  • At least 3 years of estimating construction projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience with estimating mission critical, clean room/pharmaceutical, exterior facade/ metal panel scopes of construction.
  • Strong ability to read, understand and interpret specifications and drawings for PCI’s scopes of work
  • Strong record of establishing and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and cost analysis.
  • Ability to accurately read schedules for sequencing and durations of applicable scopes of work.
  • Proficiency with computer takeoff & estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff and Quickbid.

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science or Construction Management
  • Experience with working with union representatives is preferred.
  • OSHA Certification
  • Local to metro Washington, DC area is preferred
