Operations Manager

Description

PCI is seeking an Operations Manager for its PCI Kansas City operations based in Lenexa, KS.  This individual will play a vital role in overseeing commercial glass and glazing projects from conception to completion and be responsible for the following duties:

• Manage business unit in commercial glass and glazing operations in Kansas City.  
• Initiate and maintain customer contact which will enable securements and profitable execution of work.
• Direct and manage the construction activities of projects in this area of responsibility in order to maximize  margin contribution results.
• Interpret and analyze contract documents regarding terms, specifications, clarifications and requirements for each project.
• Manage job site personnel in order to maintain effective relations with owner, engineers, utilities, subcontractors, contractors, unions, etc.
• Implement the corporate program regarding loss control and claims management pertaining to workers compensation.
• Analyze and monitor actual vs. estimated costs in order to develop action plans where unfavorable variances are detected.  Ensure that an effective job control system is utilized on each project.
• Responsible to solicit the assistance of the estimating department when necessary in order to assure maximum bidding activity without sacrificing quality.
• Negotiate contract issues and variances and further negotiate change order, scope changes, claims and other project issues as required.

This position is safety sensitive.

 Basic Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction science or construction management or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a manager in the specialty construction industry (Commercial Glass and Glazing).
• Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Word.
• A clear understanding of how to read and understand specifications and drawings.
• Good communication skills.

• Able to work in a team environment.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to learn new job skills by engaging in the technical aspects of the job and applying new skills as they are taught.
• Clear understanding of safety needs specifically related to the glass and glazing industry.

Preferred Requirements 

• OSHA Certification.
• Local to the Kansas City metro area is preferred.
